On leaving

TELL CLAUDE: what do you ask guests to do before they go? Dishes in the dishwasher, trash to the bear-proof bin, thermostat setting, lock up. Keep it to a short list - long lists get ignored.

Wildlife

Grand Lake has bears, moose and elk, and the moose in particular are more dangerous than they look. Rubbish goes in a secured bin, food does not stay out, and nobody approaches wildlife for a photograph.

TELL CLAUDE: check this matches what you actually tell guests, and add the specifics for your property - which bin, where it lives.

Fire

TELL CLAUDE: fire pit rules, wood stove instructions, and what happens during a county fire ban. This is the one section where being specific genuinely matters.

Damage

TELL CLAUDE: what you ask guests to do if something breaks. "Tell us, we would much rather know" is usually the right tone.
